Condo Development to Replace Etobicoke Strip Mall
After years of speculation, it has been confirmed that an aging Etobicoke strip mall will become the site of a new multi-residential community.
The retail complex located on the southeast corner of Kipling Avenue and The Queensway will be totally demolished and replaced with 13 condominiums, according to documents filed with the City of Toronto in June.
Developed by Singapore-based investment holding company Figtree Holdings Ltd., and designed by Toronto-headquartered architecture firm Studio JCI, the master planned community will include a mix of tower heights ranging from 12 storeys along The Queensway to as tall as 65 storeys along Kipling Avenue.
It’s proposed that the buildings combined will provide 7,360 residential units, a percentage of which will be allocated to affordable ownership housing.
The plan for the almost 7.5-hectare site also includes one hectare of public green space, the potential to construct a future Catholic elementary school to support the massive shift in population density, and parking for nearly 4,200 vehicles.
