Ikea to Permanently Close Toronto Location

Just two years after opening, the Ikea store at Scarborough Town Centre in Toronto’s east end is shuttering its doors.

The closure of the store is planned to take place in early 2026. An exact date has not yet been determined.

The home furnishings retailer says shifting consumer behaviour toward online shopping and the limited range of products that could be offered at the smaller store resulted in lower-than-expected performance.

The shopping centre location opened in August 2023, as a city-centre store — a new smaller format that Ikea had been testing in several markets globally.
