South Riverdale, as its name suggests, is the southern half of the large Riverdale neighbourhood. Considered the gateway to the east end of the city, it’s generally bounded by the Don Valley Parkway to the west, Greenwood Avenue to the east, Gerrard Street to the north and Lake Shore Boulevard to the south. The residential landscape is primarily made up of two and three-story Victorian and Edwardian style homes constructed in the late 19th century, many of which have undergone extensive renovations. The area is known for its multiculturalism, diverse mix of retail shopping and large film studios extending south from Queen Street East to the waterfront.
